A once in a lifetime motorcycle expedition

On November 6, 2010 departing from Amsterdam and Brussels 30 to 50 adventurous motorcyclists will start an epic journey. A trip of 3 weeks through 3 African countries separates the adventurers from their legendary final destination: the golden and mythical city of the Sahara : Timbuktu. You do not need mass off-road experience, no major African knowledge, only a desire for something nonroutine and Adventure with big "A". Do you feel addressed? Start reading it and go on the expedition.

Frans Verhoeven - goes back to Timbuktu

The Dutch-Belgian top pilot Frans Verhoeven travels back to Timbuktu. Frans, with a stage victory on a BMW motorcycle for the first time in 10 years, is one of the world's best enduro riders listed. Frans has just as Gert a passion for Africa and is now looking forward to guide this epic journey. For the adventurers with somewhat less field experience, Frans will be available for a few weekends in the Netherlands or Belgium, to explain how to handle heavy enduro engines through wild terrains. Verhoeven actually works almost full time as an instructor enduro riding in his own FV Off Road Academy where less experienced riders can build and perfect their experience.

For those who wants to follow the bikers in a 4x4

The Timbuktu Challenge is primarily an expedition organized by and for bikers. Yet we know that several members of this unique, but nevertheless 3-week adventure want to share this experience with their partner or friends, not necessarily all motorcyclists. This can be a private car or a hired 4x4. You don’t have a 4x4, or do you not want to expose your 4x4 to the desert sand and the African rock slope - we have the solution:
Thanks to the organization Go2Dakar we have 5 new and quasi-for-Africa-prepared Wrangler Jeeps of the last generation. The cars are only one year old, in perfect condition and can be rented at the price of € 2500 per person for the three-week expedition (based on 2 people per car). The price includes also a private Go2Dakar mechanic who will check the car daily and if necessary repair.
